Unum Jiu jitsu is owned and operated by Cory & Melissa Ballestero along with their son, Wyatt. 

Unum Jiu jitsu is one of eleven affiliates under the guidance of IBJJF 2019 Master World Champion, Professor Matt Baker, creator and owner of the TRUJITSU Revolution out of Bakersfield, Ca.

Coach Cory was introduced to jiu jitsu over 10 years ago. While focusing on his career as a police officer, Jiu jitsu was just a hobby. After 16yrs of service, he chose to dedicate himself full time to training, coaching and operating what is now Unum Jiu jitsu.
In 2017, Coach Cory introduced Jiu jitsu to his family and they began training under Professor, Jimmy Smith at Blacksmith Jiu jitsu. In 2019, the Smith family asked the Ballesteros to take over the academy and they happily accepted and couldn’t imagine their lives any other way. After much thought, they decided to rename the academy-Unum Jiu jitsu (UNIFIED in Latin). Any given weekend you can find the Ballesteros training out of town or competing together. Of course, you can find them on the mats every night of the week as well. Their love for Jiu jitsu is strong and they hope to build their team with the same passion for the sport.
